Organisers of the Homecoming event in Arbroath over the weekend of April 5/6 are looking for groups to join in with the celebrations.
The weekend-long event is part of the Tartan Day Scotland Festival 2014, which runs from April 5 to 13 and celebrates Scotland and the Scots throughout Angus. Although Arbroath’s Tartan Day Scotland Homecoming weekend already has an extensive programme of historical re-enactments, live music and street theatre, the organisers are keen to involve as many community groups from across Angus as possible.
This is an excellent opportunity for local dancers, singers, bands, choirs, amateur dramatic and musical theatre groups, of all ages, to showcase their talents and skills to the great many visitors who are expected to flock to Angus to attend Arbroath’s Tartan Day Scotland Homecoming weekend.
With performance areas at Arbroath Abbey, along Arbroath High Street and at Arbroath Harbour, there’s scope for acts of all sizes – from small gigs by local bands to excerpts from shows to dancing displays to recreations of significant moments in Scotland’s history. Whether a solo performer or a choir, if you can help tell the story of this corner of Scotland, past and present, to the many people who will be welcomed to Arbroath on April 5/6, get in touch with the Tartan Day Scotland Festival organisers.
Groups or individuals who would like to volunteer to participate in or contribute to the Tartan Day Scotland Homecoming weekend’s entertainment programme, should email ClarkeM@angus.gov.uk .
