Arbroath Herald’s winner of this year’s Draw Your Mum competition shyly accepted her prize with a cheeky grin.
Five-year-old Jessica Thain won a framed print of her drawing and £50 in shopping vouchers following our Mother’s Day competition.
Of winning the prize for the best drawing she said: “It didn’t take me that long to do, I was just finished at ballet and I sat down to do it before my Dad picked me up and then I went out to play.”
Jessica’s drawing shows her mum in a purple dress with long hair.
She said: “I’m not sure why I chose a purple dress, I’m not sure she would even have worn one. I can’t really remember what her hair was like but I’ve done it really long.”
Jessica’s mum, Louise, sadly passed away on July 10, 2011, leaving husband Stewart, Jessica and Robert (3).
A keen artist, Jessica said she will draw anything: “I like drawing butterflies, and princesses, everything really, even snails.”
Mr Thain said the picture will go nicely in Jessica’s bedroom.
