Lecturer Gav Hamilton takes the pain of having his back waxed in the beauty department at D&A college helping to raise money for the Great Wall of China walk.

Five hairy men at D&A College parted company with some of their body insulation last Wednesday evening after volunteering for a charity wax.

Lecturers Garry Smith, Gary Colquhoun, Gary Gordon and Gavin Hamilton stepped forward along with Craig Johnston to have the hair on their chests, backs or legs stripped.

The men had all agreed to support college team administrator Carol Johnston in her bid to walk the Great Wall of China for charity.

She is making the 10-day hike across one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in a bid to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Carol said: “I was inspired to make the trip because of my late husband John’s bravery as he went through three years of immense pain and confusion with his brain tumours.

“There are so many more people who are suffering from this horrific disease that it spurs you on. I am sure a few blisters will be nothing in comparison”.

Lecturer Garry Smith commented: “The Chinese maintain that you haven’t lived until you have been to the Great Wall - we feel like that about the D&A’s beauty department at the moment!

“We are all delighted to help Carol raise money for such a good cause any way we can! As they say ‘No pain, no gain’”.
