At the recent annual general meeting of the Arbroath committee of Macmillan Cancer Support it was reported that over £15,000 had been raised.
The group met in the Commercial Inn and the following office-bearers were elected: chair – Mr Bill Mathieson; vice chair – Ms Kerry Sidgwick; secretary – Mrs Betty Edwards; treasurer – Mrs Flo Cruickshank; and press secretary – Mrs Jill Beattie-Paterson.
Ms Glyn McLean was welcomed as a new member of the committee and Mr Greg Cox resigned with grateful thanks for all of his efforts to date.
Mr Cox assured the committee that he was still available to provide assistance when required.
Mr Mathieson thanked the committee for its efforts over the last year, with special thanks to Mrs Edwards and Mrs Cruickshank for their continued hard work as office bearers.
He went on to say that the future of the committee depends on encouraging the younger generation to get involved and the committee agreed.
Mrs Cruickshank then gave her report noting that £16,350 had been sent to head office during the financial year.
This was through various fund-raisers held by the committee along with many donations from the public, both large and small throughout the year including Angus Pool League, Slimming World, The Rat Pack Concert, The Corner Bar and Miss Jade Watt to name but a few.
All donations are gratefully received.
Shirlie Geddes, the Angus and Tayside fund-raising manager, then gave her report informing the local committee of all the national events going on throughout the UK.
She thanked the local committee for their efforts.
