The generosity of Arbroath’s golfers has been praised by the chair of the Arbroath Relay For Life for raising more than £3,000 recently.

On Monday evening a cheque for £1,500 was presented to Arbroath Relay For Life chair Ian Angus, the proceeds from the Rich Cargill Am-Am Tournament at the Arbroath Artisans Golf Club in June.

He said: “The very generous donation of £1,500 to Relay For Life from the proceeds of the Rich Cargill memorial AM AM makes a fitting tribute.

“This money has already been banked with Cancer Research UK and is being put to work helping to find a cure for cancer.

“This donation comes on top of the £17,000 raised at the recent Ryder Cup weekend and adds up to a colossal contribution from Arbroath’s golfers to this years’ Relay For Life.

“We cannot thank them enough. We are very grateful and they can be sure that the money will be put to good use by the world’s leading cancer charity.”
