AN ARBROATH cancer survivor has donated over £3,000 to help cancer patients at Ninewells Hospital.

Mrs June Macdonald was joined by family on Friday afternoon at Ninewells’ Ward 32 as she presented the cheque for £3,100 to Dr Douglas Adamson, consultant clinical oncologist for the Tayside Oncology Research Fund.

Mrs Macdonald, her family and friends raised the money through numerous events including prize bingo, selling tablet to neighbours and friends, a charity barbeque and various raffles held at events.

Mrs Macdonald’s husband died from cancer and both she and her sister-in-law have been treated for cancer so she felt she wanted to give something back to Ninewells Hospital for all the help and support they had given her.

Dr Adamson said: “We are always extremely heartened by the fund-raising that people involve themselves in to benefit patients who are diagnosed with cancer.

“A huge thank you to June, her friends and family for this donation.”

This is not the first time Mrs Macdonald and her family have raised money for the cancer patients at Ninewells.

Last August they donated £3,100 to Ward 32 which had been realised through various events and included a donation of £100 from the Corner Bar in Arbroath.
