Angus Council has launched a new online service to give comprehensive housing options advice.
The ‘Housing Options Wizard’ is available to anyone in need of housing advice. It works by assessing customer’s details and circumstances and then providing the options that are available to them. The wizard will give users a ‘Personal Action Plan’ with comprehensive advice and assistance on Housing Options.
Angus Council and Hillcrest Housing Association have also welcomed the addition of two new partners to the Common Housing Register (CHR), Blackwood Homes and Caledonia Housing Association. The CHR application form allows applicants to complete one form for the four landlords with a combined stock of around 10,000 homes at affordable rents.
Under the newly launched Common Allocations Policy, everyone is considered for housing in the same way rather than through separate systems.
All the information on the application form is entered to the Angus CHR by a dedicated team of officers based at the council’s headquarters in Forfar. Applications are processed electronically to determine what category an application should be placed on and what points are awarded to the applicant.
Council housing spokesman Cllr Donald Morrison said: “I’m delighted to be welcoming more partners to the Angus Common Housing Register. At a time when investment in housing is under pressure and waiting lists are growing, the Register makes the process of applying for housing in Angus faster, fairer, simpler and more consistent.
“In addition to this, the new online service will be a useful service as it enables people in need to access housing options advice when they need it at any time of day or night.”
