CHRISTMAS shoppers will have the opportunity to buy everything they need for Christmas locally by going along to Angus Farmers’ Market’s special Christmas event at Forfar Mart on Saturday, December 22.

Over 40 stalls will be selling their wares at the event which is being held at Angus Farmers’ Market’s new indoor venue. “With stalls offering an excellent range of local, top-quality, seasonal fresh food and produce, as well as craft and gift stalls, spending a few hours here on the last Saturday morning before Christmas could be the answer to everyone’s festive shopping dilemmas,” said Carol Robbie.

“Whether you’re looking for local specialities such as free-range, Angus-bred turkeys, roasts of locally-reared beef, lamb or pork, a home-made clootie dumpling or something more unusual such as buffalo, there will be lots of ideas for Christmas dinner as well as the usual extensive choice of fresh locally-grown vegetables to accompany your chosen dish.”

As well as the chance to shop for the very best of local produce in a cosy indoor environment complete with a café and ample, accessible parking, shoppers at Angus Farmers’ Market’s special Christmas market will also be able to enter a free draw to win a Christmas hamper packed full of Christmas market goodies and pick up a few festive cookery tips at cookery demonstrations by resident chef, Hayley Wilkes.

And, as part of this year’s highly-successful A Taste of Angus campaign, the title of Angus Young Chef of the Year 2012 will be decided at the live cook-off final.

For younger shoppers, there will be a very good reason to visit this Christmas market. Santa’s taking some time out of his busy pre-Christmas schedule to say hello – and maybe buy a few Christmas treats with an authentic Angus flavour for himself and Mrs Claus!

In addition, chef Hayley Wilkes will be helping budding young cooks brush up on their Christmas cookery skills with her ‘Wee Cookies’ demonstrations, several stalls will be providing special children’s activities and there will be a face painter – red noses just like Rudolph’s are expected to be very popular!

Angus Farmers’ Market’s special Christmas market will be held from 9 a.m. until the specially-extended time of 3 p.m. at Forfar Mart on Saturday, December 22.
