The recent furore over two sets of roadworks taking place on the same Arbroath road within days of each other has prompted a councillor to investigate.
The Arbroath Herald received several letters from bewildered residents and users of Brechin Road when just a matter of days after council workers had completed carriageway and pavement works the same stretch of road was opened up again by Scottish Water.
In response Conservative councillor for Arbroath East and Letham Martyn Geddes contacted the Herald. He said: “After hearing about work being done on Brechin Road so soon I got in touch with the roads department.
“It seems there was a leak so Scottish Water had to go in again to fix it. Turns out it was just a fluke that it happened just after the surface was redone.
“Also I asked and the department said they do co-ordinate with utility companies so they aren’t going into new surfaces within a certain period of time.”
