A local ‘Marmalady’ scooped a gold medal at the World Marmalade Awards.
Former hairdresser Anne Reith from Arbroath won the Hairdressers Marmalade category in the awards, which recently took place at Dalemain Mansion in Penrithand and had more than 160 overseas entries and artisan jars from as far afield as South Africa, Korea and Singapore.
Martin Grant, managing director of Arbroath-based Mackays, main sponsor of the event, said: “Scotland has a proud marmalade making heritage, however, the worldwide appeal of marmalade is undeniable - these awards are testament to that. We export our marmalade, which we still make the authentic way using copper pans, all over the world, so we already knew that other countries have an appetite for it.
“Having attended the event over the weekend it is great to see just how many people in continents, such as Asia and the Middle East, are making it at home.
“Mackays is proud to be supporting this event for another year and congratulates all of the winners.”
