ANGUS MP Mike Weir is urging local people to see red for a healthy heart.

February marks National Heart Month and Friday (February 24) will be national wear red day, organised by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Scotland.

During the month the BHF Scotland have been encouraging people across the country to think about their own hearts and the hearts of those around them.

The heart charity also needs people across Scotland to get involved with national wear red day, and raise vital funds for the charity’s life-saving work.

By wearing red like Mr Weir on Friday and raising money, you will help BHF Scotland to save lives through pioneering research, patient care, campaigning for change and by providing vital information.

And he explained why he would be getting involved in the campaign.

He said: “Heart disease is a major killer in Scotland, and here in Angus.

The British Heart Foundation Scotland does fantastic work in raising money to help with research and caring for those who suffer from heart disease. “

“National heart month is an excellent way to publicise the work of the charity and to raise much needed funds to help with their invaluable work.”
