Table help Academy in right direction
ARBROATH Academy students working towards the Duke of Edinburgh award have been presented with new compasses thanks to Arbroath Round Table.
A batch of 10 compasses in custom made storage boxes were passed to the Duke of Edinburgh open learning unit at the Academy as replacements.
Arbroath Round Table chairman Malcolm Scott said: “We Tablers are keen to support youth initiatives especially when they are character developing and this is why we chose to support Duke of Edinburgh students with a donation of equipment rather than support a single group.
“These compasses can be used by many students in the years to come which we feel is money well spent. I’d also like to thank Bob Stewart of RS Joinery for building the custom boxes to safely store them in.”
Speaking on behalf of the open learning unit, Duke of Edinburgh co-ordinator Ricky Beattie added: “Compasses are a major part of the kit we need for all of our groups and they get a lot of use. We are grateful to Arbroath Round Table for this support they will be put to good use for years to come!”
The Round Table will also donate 10 compasses to the Duke of Edinburgh group at Arbroath High School to assist with their programme.
