Students enjoy time in the sun

A GROUP of Angus College students have just returned from a successful work placement trip to Tenerife.

The 16 students from the beauty and hospitality departments were in the Canary Islands as part of the Leonardo da Vinci programme.

The programme encourages vocational training and education in Europe and this is the fourth year that Angus College has taken part.

Students were placed with hair and beauty salons, hotel spas, restaurants and a five star hotel in Puerta de la Cruz to allow them to experience working and living abroad and to observe different working practices.

Prior to the trip the students underwent six weeks of Spanish lessons which they continued during their placement.

Course leader Wendy McLeod said: “It’s been the most fantastic opportunity and we’ve been most impressed with the way the students have made the most of their time.

“They’ve come back with great memories, gained additional skills and some even have plans to work abroad full time.”
