MIKE Weir MP stressed the importance of Relay For Life in the community at the launch meeting for this year’s fund-raising event in Arbroath United Cricket Club’s premises on Friday night.

Richard Cowie, of Cancer Research UK, spoke about the vital research which is able to be funded by supporters of Relay and local organiser, Alana Loudon, revealed that this year’s event would be the seventh Relay For Life in Arbroath.

She added that in the previous six years over £300,000 had been raised. She believes that it is a hugely important occasion in the community and brings together people from all walks of life to contribute in some way.

Some of the committee turned up in fancy dress to get in the spirit of the theme. The next meeting is on Tuesday, March 26, at 8 p.m. at the Cricket Club. Anyone interested is welcome to come along. For more information, contact Alana on alanaloudon@hotmail.co.uk/ or on 07881940418.
