Police warning to motorists
LOCAL people can expect to see wintry conditions continue throughout much of today (Tuesday) and, with further snowfall predicted during the course of this week, Tayside Police is again appealing to motorists to take care on the roads.
Despite the severe weather, the overwhelming majority of the region’s roads are passable with care.
A few minor roads traffic incidents have been reported, but, as of 9 a.m., numbers were no greater than average, with drivers heeding the warnings and exercising caution in what are challenging conditions.
Gritter and ploughs are out across the Tayside area in an effort to keep the routes clear.
Snow, as well as sleet and even rain in coastal areas is forecast to continue throughout today and into this evening.
Sporadic showers will continue during Wednesday and Thursday and the weather seems set to deteriorate again from Friday and into the weekend.
While temperatures are broadly holding above or about freezing, sub zero road temperatures are a likelihood, particularly at night.
As such Tayside Police appeals to anyone who is driving to be prepared.
