Police seek help from the public

A SERIES of break-ins and attempted break-ins to lock-ups in Cairnie Loan are being investigated by police in the town.

The thieves targeted the lock-ups between 3.30 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, and 7.30 a.m. on Friday, October 26. The padlocks and bolts were tampered with in an attempt to break into the garages.

Police are trying to establish what was stolen and have also urged residents to take the security of their garden sheds, garages and outbuildings as seriously as they do the family home.

A spokesman commented: “Nowadays, it is common for people to store expensive goods and equipment in their sheds, garages and outbuildings, which is precisely why householders should take steps to ensure their belongings are safe and make life as hard as possible for the opportunist thief.”

Anyone with any information that may be useful should contact Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222, or any police officer. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Local officers have also appealed for information after vandals damaged the front door of a property in the town at the weekend.

Between 10.30 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, and 11 a.m. on Sunday, November 4, vandals threw paint over the door at a house in Elm Brae, causing considerable damage.

Anyone with information that could assist enquiries should call 0300 111 2222.
