A REWARD of £25,000 is being offered for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the Inverkeilor train derailment.

Last weekend, the 8.04 a.m. CrossCountry service from Edinburgh to Aberdeen had not long left Arbroath, when it came off the tracks in Inverkeilor around 10 a.m. last Sunday morning (November 4).

Fortunately, the train remained upright and none of the 36 passengers or two members of staff on-board the train were seriously injured.

British Transport Police (BTP) later revealed that an object had been deliberately placed on the tracks, causing the train to derail.

A major investigation is currently underway with BTP saying they are taking the incident extremely seriously and therefore a £25,000 reward is being offered.

The reward comes from the operator of the railway infrastructure, Network Rail, and train operators CrossCountry Trains, ScotRail and East Coast, as the BTP investigation continues.
