Police appeal to park visitors in missing marine probe

POLICE investigating the disappearance of marine Ralph Hebden are now appealing for anyone who may have been in Victoria Park on the day he went missing to come forward.

Ralph (32), who is based at the Arbroath’s RM Condor, was last seen on the morning of Monday, March 11.

The last confirmed sighting of him was at the town’s Morrison’s store shortly after 8.30 a.m. but it is believed he may have headed to Victoria Park and the Arbroath cliffs area for a run afterwards.

Both the police and Ralph’s family and friends have been overwhelmed by the UK-wide public response and support to ongoing enquiries, but despite this, the marine’s whereabouts are still unknown.

Inspector Ally Robertson confirmed that in tracing Ralph’s last known movements, the enquiry team want to speak to anyone who was in or near to Victoria Park, or anywhere along the waterfront on that morning.

He said: “I would appeal to dog walkers, joggers, anyone driving their car in the area and indeed a canoeist who was seen at the waterfront in the area of Victoria Park at about 11.50 a.m. to come forward.

“If you were there – tell us, don’t assume that you know nothing that could help or didn’t see anything that could be of assistance.

“It is possible you have a piece of information that could help progress enquiries. Call us and let us decide what information is or isn’t of value.”

Ralph is six feet four inches tall and of muscular build, with short cropped fair hair.

He was last seen wearing black trainers, dark blue or black jogging bottoms and a blue fleece, as well as a black beanie hat.

This request for information follows an emotional appeal from Ralph’s pregnant wife Sarah who had this message for her husband: “Ralph, we are all missing you and are worried about you. Our baby is now due sooner than expected, please come home.”

Anyone who knows where Ralph is or who has information that could assist Tayside Police in tracing him should call 101 or speak to any police officer.
