A POEM to commemorate Arbroath’s memorable Scottish Cup replay against Celtic at Gayfield is to be given pride of place in the club’s boardroom.

Well-known Gayfield regular Dave Ramsay penned the poem called ‘Fit a Nicht (When Celtic Came to Arbroath)’ and in it he describes the key moments of the game.

Dave was inspired to write the poem in honour of his friend, Ed Littlejohn, another long standing Lichtie and Gayfield regular.

Unfortunately at the time of the game last December, Ed was too ill to attend so Dave wrote the poem to let his friend know what happened and what the atmosphere at Gayfield was like on that night.

Ed passed away earlier this year and now Dave has dedicated the poem to his memory.

A copy has been made and it will be framed and displayed in the boardroom.

Arbroath chairman John Christison said: “It will be a nice thing to have in the boardroom in memory of both Ed Littlejohn and the great occasion.”
