Playparks safe for now

PLAYPARKS that were under threat of having equipment removed have been given a stay of execution.

In October, Angus Council announced proposals to remove play equipment from parks at 13 sites in Arbroath, four in Carnoustie and three in Monifieth.

A consultation was then launched with the council receiving over 1,000 responses as well as a 2,272 signature petition against the plan.

However, at yesterday’s (Thursday) neighbourhood services committee, it was decided no equipment would be removed for the time being unless it poses a health and safety risk.

Instead a series of meetings will be arranged to discuss each individual park and the future provision it will provide.

See next week’s Arbroath Herald/Guide & Gazette for reaction to this latest development.
