IT MAY be eight months away but plans are already in place for Arbroath’s biggest fund-raiser.

The Cancer Research UK Relay for Life will be back to place on September 21 and 22 at the usual venue of Arbroath United Cricket Club.

Last year the event raised in excess of £40,000 to help fund research into cancer treatment and cures.

And even though the relay may seem a long way off, any teams or cancer survivors wishing to take part can already register their place.

Registration for Relay for Life 2013 is now open on the Cancer Research Relay for Life webpage, where interested teams can find all the details.

And now the Angus committee of Cancer Research UK, which organises the relay is keen to hear from anybody who will be able to assist them in planning this year’s event.

Chair of the committee Alana Loudon said: “The committee invite all teams, survivors, helpers and anyone who would like to get involved to join in to help make this event a great success.

The next committee meeting to discuss the Relay for Life will take place at 7 p.m. On Tuesday, January 22, at Arbroath United Cricket Club.

Anyone able to offer their services or is wanting to join the committee is invited to attend.
