Over £700 raised for lifeboat

THE SUN was shining at the weekend on a successful coffee morning in aid of the Arbroath Lifeboat crew.

The Arbroath Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild ‘Serve Our Supporters’ coffee morning on Saturday in the Old and Abbey Church hall raised around £760 for the crew.

President of the Arbroath ladies’ Lifeboat Guild, Barbara Cargill said: “Thank you to the ladies of the guild for all your hard work and also thanks to everyone who attend the coffee morning and made it such a success.”

Tomorrow (Saturday) the ladies will be out in force again to support the crew during their ‘rowathon’ at the Lifeboat Shed.

The ladies will be selling tea and coffee to spectators as the crew attempt to use a rowing machine to row the distance to the Bell Rock Lighthouse.

Tickets are now available, priced £7, for ‘An evening with Annie Gilruth’ by Ann Craig at 7.30 p.m. March 7, in the Sea Cadet Hall on East Abbey Street.

Tickets can be purchased from Barbara Cargill on 01241 872097 and booking is advised. Cheese and wine will be served during the evening.

The next meeting of the Arbroath Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, February 11 in the Sea Cadet Hall.
