Marines to remain at Condor

RM Condor.

RM Condor.

THE ROYAL Marines of 45 Commando are set to remain in Arbroath at RM Condor for the foreseeable future.

The announcement was made today (Tuesday) by defence secretary Philip Hammond as part of the government’s military base review.

It had been previously announced the marines would pull out of the town by 2016 with an army regiment moving in Condor.

It was thought 45 Commando would move south to join the other marine commando units.

However in a u-turn, the government has decided to not go ahead with that plan and marines will remain at the base.
