Maggie’s Centre appeal for gardeners

MAGGIE’S Centre at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, is looking for qualified horticultural therapists to help maintain its garden.

This is an opportunity for qualified horticultural therapists to combine their passion for gardening with the opportunity to deliver a therapeutic gardening programme aimed at improving the health and well-being of people with cancer and their family and friends.

Maggie’s is working with Thrive, the charity which champions the therapeutic and health benefits of gardening, to find people to supervise the overall maintenance of a Centre’s garden working alongside the vision of the original designer and overseeing work undertaken by volunteer groups for Maggie’s Centres in Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Fife, Inverness, Cheltenham, Nottingham and Swansea.

Maggie’s Centres offer free practical, emotional and social support to anyone with cancer, including family and friends.

The Centres have been designed by some of the world’s leading architects including Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, Richard Rogers and Norman Foster. Landscape architects who have designed gardens at Maggie’s Centres include Dan Pearson, Kim Wilkie, Charles Jencks, Arabella Lennox-Boyd and Sarah Price.

Applications should be by e-mail in the format of CV with covering letter to: Carys Winship, Staff and Resources Manager at Maggie’s, carys.winship@maggiescentres.org. More details are available at www.maggiescentres.org
