TWO WELL-KNOWN staff members at Arbroath Infirmary have retired after more then seven decades of service between them.

And friends and colleagues gathered in a packed staff canteen on Friday to say their farewells to Ann Cuthill and Christine Dodds.

Ann, a senior charge nurse and outpatients department manager, has retired after 42 years of service.

She qualified as a nurse in 1973 and was appointed sister at the Infirmary in 1988.

Even though her official title is senior charge nurse, the term ‘Sister’ has stuck with her ever since.

Christine started her nursing training in 1967 at Dundee Royal Infirmary.

She spent many years living in South Africa before returning to work at Arbroath Infirmary in 1980. She had several jobs in various wards before taking up her final nursing post in the outpatients’ department.

Susan Skene, head of nursing at Stracathro Regional Treatment Centre, expressed the thanks of NHS Tayside to both ladies for their dedication.
