Inquiry continues into assault

TAYSIDE Police have charged a man with attempted murder in connection with an assault which left a man hospitalised and in a coma.

At around 3 a.m. on Sunday, officers were called to attend the scene of a serious 
assault at the junction of Russell Street and Elliot Street.

A 30-year-old-man, locally named as painter and decorator Mike Swankie, was taken 
to Ninewells Hospital with serious head injuries.

His injuries were so severe that he is believed to have entered a coma from which he later recovered.

A spokesperson for Tayside Police said: “Tayside Police can confirm that a 21 year old man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident on Sunday, March 17.

“A 30 year old man was hospitalised and his condition is described as stable today (Thursday).”
