Housing grants for council
ANGUS Council and housing associations are to receive additional funding to go towards building social housing for rent across the area.
The Scottish Government is providing an extra £588,000 of grant funding through their affordable housing supply programme, which takes the amount available to the council and its partners to £3.177 million for the next two years up to March 2015.
Angus Council housing spokesperson, Councillor Donald Morrison said: “I am delighted that our request to the government for more funding has been successful.
“We can never receive enough money to build affordable housing and this will be a boost to those seeking new homes across Angus.
“It will enable us to continue our ambitious programme of building affordable and energy efficient homes, and will help reduce the pressure on our waiting list that bit more”.
Councillor Morrison continued: “It should also provide an important opportunity for the local construction industry to compete for the additional projects in the area, which would bring benefits for the local economy in terms of employment and training”.
