GOLDEN DAY FOR JIM AND WILMA

JIM AND Wilma Crabb, 19 Monymusk Road, have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

They were married on February 1, 1958, at St Rule's Church, Monifieth by the Rev. F.S. Gordon Fraser.

The couple met at a dance at the JM Ballroom, Dundee.

Mrs Crabb, nee Pullar, is a native of Monifieth, who attended Seaview Primary and Grove Academy before finding her first job with Grafton, Lawson & Carmichael, solicitors, Dundee. She then worked in the Monifieth Town Council office until she married.

She is a founder member of the Tayside Amateur Athletic Club, and was a sprinter in her younger days. She was also Tawny Owl with Monifieth Brownies for some time. She is now a member of the Inner Wheel of Arbroath, and she loves to spend time in the garden, and with the couple's grandchildren.

Mr Crabb is a Dundonian, who attended Blackness Primary School and Logie Junior Secondary. His first job was with Thomas C. Keay, textile machine manufacturer, where he served a five-year apprenticeship.

He spent half of his two-year National Service in Malta with the Royal Air Force, and on demobilisation he returned to his old employer before joining Timex where he worked for nine years. The family then moved to Arbroath where he joined the Panmure Tool and Engineering Company as works manager.

In 1974, however, with his brother-in-law, Tom Pullar, he used his expertise in precision engineering to found Keptie Engineering Co, Ltd. He retired in 1995.

Mr Crabb's hobbies include gardening and joinery. He is a member of Lochlands Bowling Club, and is a past president of Arbroath Rotary Club. He was a Boys' Brigade captain at The Old Church for several years, and is an elder of the West Kirk.

The couple have four children; Mrs Lynn Low, Mrs Fiona McCafferty, Jim and Colin. There are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A family celebration was held at the Meadowbank Inn the day after the anniversary.
