Get scribbling for National Doodle Day

LOCAL doodlers are being asked to put pen to paper next week in aid of an epilepsy charity.

On Friday, February 8, doodlers all over Britain will take part in National Doodle Day by taking part in a competition to design a headline for the stationery of company Dodo Pad, and in the process raise money for Epilepsy Action.

A host of celebrities have already signed up, including Rolf Harris, Caroline Quentin, Gok Wan and Jo Brand.

The national competition will offer a range of prizes in the under and over 16 categories.

From the winning entries a shortlist will be drawn up with some of the doodles being featured in the new range of Dodo Pad and Acad-Pad diary ranges.

Entry is by donation to Epilepsy Action and it is hoped that thousands of pounds can be realised for the charity.

Managing director of Dodo Pad Rebecca Jay said: “We already encourage our customers to doodle wherever possible in our personal planners, with designated doodle spaces and some efforts of our own.

“With this in mind, we were delighted to put our name alongside National Doodle Day for another year as it represents the perfect fit for us.

“Moreover, the campaign raises thousands of pounds for Epilepsy Action, which carries out so much invaluable work for tens of thousands of people.”

Philippa Cartwright, fund-raising events manager for Epilepsy Action’s National Doodle Day said: “Being featured in a future edition of the Dodo Pad diary is an offer we think is too good to refuse.

“National Doodle Day was established back in 2004 to create a unique, fun and fantastically simple fund-raising event that everyone could be a part of.

“By simply drawing a doodle, thousands of celebrities, schools, companies and individuals have joined together and helped raise over £250,000 for a vital cause.”
