ANGUS folk are being encouraged to dig out their Christmas jumpers for a good cause this season.

On Friday, December 14, Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day will see thousands pay £1 to go to work in their favourite winter woolies.

Head of Scotland for Save the Children Douglas Hamilton said: “Christmas Jumper Day is a fun way for people of all ages to raise money during the festive period for vulnerable children around the world. We’re encouraging people to dig out their traditional Christmas jumpers, decorate one or even knit one to wear on the day.”

Over seven million children die from things like malnutrition and diarrhoea which can be easily prevented.

Just £3 will buy a mosquito net for a child in Southern Sudan while £12 will vaccinate a child in Sierra Leone.
