Eilish to present Angus awards
CARNOUSTIE Olympian Eilish McColgan will be presenting awards to Angus pupils who will be recognised for their many fantastic achievements at a ceremony in Forfar tonight (Tuesday).
Angus Council’s education department is holding its annual Angus Young Achievers awards ceremony at the Reid Hall.
The event will also be attended by Sheena Welsh, convener of education and Neil Logue, director of education.
Awards will be presented to over 220 pupils who have been placed in the first three in a national competition in a wide variety of activities, represented their country or made an outstanding contribution to their community.
Councillor Welsh said: “Whether the achievement is in sport, arts, science, technology or another field, Angus Council recognises the hard work, dedication and talent it takes to achieve at this level. Congratulations and well done to all this year’s young achievers.”
Some of the achievements being recognised include members of the Carnoustie & and District Brass Band who won the British & Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships and Kelly Clark of Arbroath High School, who is a Scottish under-19 football internationalist.
