Consultation launched as college merger begins
A CONSULTATION document has been published as the proposed merger of Dundee and Angus Colleges moves closer.
The 28-page document, designed in-house, sets out the proposal made by the colleges to merge from November 1 this year and comes courtesy of the Tayside Partnership Board.
This includes representatives from each college’s existing boards of management and is working to help take forward the Scottish Government’s post-16 education reforms.
As well as defining the vision, values and ambitions for the new merged college, the document invites stakeholders including employers, local government, schools, present and future students, parents and charitable organisations the chance to have their say.
While about 600 printed copies of the document are distributed across Tayside, anyone interested can go online to find out what the merger involves by visiting www.angus.ac.uk/mergerconsultation or www.dundeecollege.ac.u.k/mergerconsultation.
Both printed and online versions of the document contain a consultation response form.
The consultation process runs until Friday, April 19.
Among the areas touched on in the document is the proposed new name – Dundee and Angus College.
“We believe in keeping things straightforward and the new name reflects exactly what the new college aims to be – a centre of high quality education and training serving the people of Dundee and Angus,” said Kish Srinivasan, chair of the Tayside Partnership Board.
“This is a consultation process, however, so we will be listening to any suggestions.”
The proposed vision is leading learning, inspiring success and the new college’s proposed values include student focus and involvement, respect and engagement, inclusion and creativity, collaboration and partnership, community and public value.
