Community group seeks volunteers

ONE OF Arbroath’s most successful community groups is looking for volunteers to deliver newsletters.

Arthur Pritchard, chair of The Association of Residents of Cliffburn and Hayshead (ARCH), has appealed to people in the local community to come forward.

The former headteacher at Hayshead Primary School said: “Communicating with the membership of the association is absolutely vital so that we can let them know what is going on in the area and how the residents’ association is trying to help the area improve.

“As part of our communication strategy we issue quarterly newsletters and we have to deliver these by hand to the 2,000 houses we represent. Logistically this is very difficult for our small committee, some of whom are not physically capable of delivering the newsletters.”

He continued: “I have been out delivering newsletters recently and, for instance, Camus Road where there are approximately 64 houses took me about 25 minutes. If we could get a group of community minded people to come forward and commit to 30 minutes delivering newsletters once every three months it would take a huge burden off me and the committee.”

The streets the association delivers to are:

Cliffburn - Abbotsford Road, Andrew Barton Street, Bellevue Gardens, Bellevue Place, Benedict Road, Boulzie Hill Place, Burnett Drive, Cliffburn Road, Cliffburn Terrace, Corries Court, Declaration Way, Den, Donaldsons Acre, Edradour Gardens, Edradour Place, Fairport Road, Flairs Avenue, Greig Crescent, Great Michael Road, Harry Nicol Gardens, Largo Street, Lethnot Road, Mayfield Terrace, Ness Drive, Prosen Drive, Provost Milne Gardens, Seafield Road, St Andrews Crescent, St Murdoch’s Crescent, St Ninians Road, Waverley Terrace and Williamson’s Court,

Anyone wishing to offer their services should contact the Cliffburn and Hayshead Community Office, 8 Mayfield Terrace, Arbroath, telephone 872177.
