Club’s festive displays

Sandra Begg, chair welcomed members and guests to Arbroath Flower Club’s November meeting with guest Mrs Kathleen Williams of Oldham.

Kathleen’s title ‘I’m Dreaming Of’, was her interpretation of Christmas, using a fantastic variety of containers, plant material and flowers and she entertained with her floral talents and story telling.

Her first white arrangement had carnations, crysanths and lizzianthus against a backdrop of a post box with a robin.

She then moved on to a table decoration with beautiful pink oriental lillies, laurel leaves fixed in a rectangular shape and bound with pink ribbon and toning purple candles.

Her third design was in a large gift basket with orange mini gerbera, cherry brandy roses, conifer, ivy and some dried orange slices and cinnamon,

Her alternative Christmas arrangement used an upside down baking bowl with cascading yellow tulips, mini gerbera, golden rod and giant aspidistra leaves looped to hide the mechanics.

Alongside she placed an arrangement of artificial berry cakes.

Maureen Fairbairn gave the vote of thanks and Mrs Begg reminded everyone to purchase their Christmas dinner tickets for the next meeting on Thursday, December 13, at 6 for 6.30 p.m. in the Royal British Legion Scotland clubrooms, Helen Street, when the demonstrator will be Mrs Moyra Turnbull from Crieff.
