MORE THAN 50 members of the Old and Abbey Church helped to plant trees in the Jubilee Woods recently.

The tree packs were offered by the Woodland Trust to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The day started with a soup and sandwich lunch immediately after worship followed by a short civic reception in Springfield Park by the Depute Provost Alex King.

Len Gregory from the church’s Eco-Group said: “The day was a beautiful sunny one and extremely cold but the support we received was fantastic.

“On behalf of the Eco-Group, I would like to thank everyone involved from the team that organised and planned the event to all who turned out on such a bitterly cold day. I would also like to thank the team of helpers that stayed behind at the church to wash dishes and tidy up.”
