POLICE are appealing for information after charity cash was stolen from an Arbroath pub yesterday (Monday).

The thief broke into the Bowler’s Lounge on Ernest Street and stole the three figure sum of cash as well as several bottles of spirits.

It is thought the incident happened sometime between 12.30 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Monday.

Stolen were bottles of whisky, Jagermeister, and rum. A charity bottle containing a large number of notes and coins, as well as a charity sweet box, was also taken.

Officers are keen to trace a man who was seen acting suspiciously outside the bar at about 9 a.m. on Monday.

He was last seen heading into a common close on Ernest Street.

The man is described as being aged about 40-years-old, five feet 11 inches tall, of average build, with short dark brown hair.

He was wearing a pair of blue jeans.

Anyone who has information that could assist police enquiries should call 0300 111 2222, or speak to any officer.
