Butcher’s award

AN ARBROATH butcher has scooped a bronze award at the 14th World Scotch Pie Championships.

D.H. Robertson of Arbroath were recognised after producing a beef bourguignon pie, which the judges say they should be truly proud of.

Steven Bennett from D.H. Robertson said: “We are delighted with our win here and can go away with our heads held very high indeed.

“To have been judged as one of the best in the land against so many of our peers is a huge achievement.”

This year the championships enjoyed the busiest judging day ever and with a record entry of more than 100 butchers and bakers entering some 500 pies, pasties, sausage rolls, bridies and savouries into the competition.

The competition is supported by Scottish Bakers and the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders.
