Braving the waves for charity trip
A GROUP of brave Arbroath teenagers took to the waves last week to raise money for a social enterprise trip to Ghana.
On Sunday Arbroath High School pupil Karina Rattray (17) and her friends Joshua Law, Haillie Mortiboys and Josh Wright raised £300 in a sponsored dook at Arbroath beach.
The money will go towards sending Karina to Ghana to teach underprivileged children English, mathematics, science and IT with the Project Trust charity.
Karina said: “It was absolutely freezing, we just ran in to about just over waist height and stayed for a few minutes.
“Afterwards I couldn’t honestly feel my body. It just went all numb and I couldn’t feel my toes in the slightest. It was awful and I don’t think I’ll ever do it again!”
Karina’s next fund-raiser is a night of mediumship with James Cameron and guests at Seaton House at 7.30 p.m. on Friday, February 8. Tickets are £10 including stovies and are available from Abbey Music and Seaton House.
