Aleisha achieves guiding award
AN ARBROATH Guide has achieved one of the organisation’s top awards.
Aleisha Dickson from 1st Arbroath Guides has completed the Baden-Powell Challenge, which require the recipient to undertake volunteering, adventure, a sponsored walk, party planning, artistic challenges and self-discovery.
Aleisha has worked hard over the past year to complete the award, and at the same time says she has learned much about herself and others whilst having fantastic fun and great adventure.
The ultimate adventure for Aleisha was a challenge in St Andrews, on St Andrew’s Day discovering what the town had to offer and ending with fireworks and a ceilidh.
The Baden-Powell Challenge is the ultimate achievement for Guides who wish to stretch themselves as individuals to achieve the very best that they can.
It should be the highlight of a Guide’s time in the Guide section, a new guiding experience for her and a link into the senior section.
The 1st Arbroath Guides is a busy Guide unit with many girls involved in this and other challenges.
Guides are open to girls aged 10 to 14 and there are three guide units in Arbroath and one in Friockheim, where new members are welcome.
They get together regularly to do lots of exciting things, to make friends, meet people, try new activities and learn new skills.
Anyone interested in getting involved as a Guide or an adult volunteer please contact Rosie Hill, district commissioner for Arbroath, on 07977 790528 or on e-mail roshill35@aol.com.
