A busy period for the crew at Arbroath lifeboat station continued on Tuesday night when both lifeboats were launched to assist a yacht with a fouled propeller.
The RNLI crew had already assembled at the lifeboat station ahead of a scheduled training exercise when a request for assistance was received at 7 p.m.
With the yacht located close to the harbour entrance and the RNLI crew already in the station the lifeboats were launched and were on scene almost immediately.
Crew members on board the inshore lifeboat RNLB ‘Robert Fergusson’ were able to cut the yacht free and it was towed safely back to harbour by the all-weather lifeboat RNLB ‘Inchcape’.
Once in the harbour the remaining debris was removed from the propeller.
