Arbroath RNLI lifeboat station launched the all-weather lifeboat RNLB Inchcape on Tuesday after they received a request to assist an eight metre yacht with a lone male crew member.
The yacht had lost power two miles from the Bell Rock lighthouse having suffered engine failure and a snapped shroud.
The call was received at 3.15 p.m. and the all-weather lifeboat was launched immediately, arriving at the scene in a moderate to rough sea with a three metre swell.
The volunteer crew quickly established a tow line with the yacht and towed it safely back to Arbroath harbour.
