THE ARBROATH RNLI all-weather lifeboat RNLB Inchcape was called out on Saturday afternoon to assist towing a recreational fishing boat which had suffered a fouled propeller.
The boat, which had several fishermen on board, became entangled close to the Bell Rock lighthouse.
Locally registered vessel, Girl Katherine II, was also in the area and skipper Alex Smith quickly made his way to the scene.
Alex, who is lifeboat operations manager at Arbroath RNLI was able to fix a towline between Girl Katherine II and the damaged boat and they made their way back to Arbroath harbour.
The RNLI volunteer crew launched the all-weather lifeboat just after 1 p.m. and they made their way out to meet the two boats which were approximately a mile out to sea.
Upon arrival the towline with Girl Katherine II was removed and taken up by the lifeboat which escorted the damaged boat safely into harbour around 1.30 p.m.
