Arbroath Football Club will finally make their debut in Europe as the Lichties step into the TV spotlight once again.

But rather than featuring in the Champions League or Europa League, the Gayfield club will be part of another BT Sport documentary fronted by ex-Eastenders star Tom Watt, better known for playing Lofty.

The Lichties have already featured in the original BT Sport documentary, ‘Football Outposts’, which featured a behind the scenes look at smaller clubs across both Scotland and England.

Now the channel have commissioned a follow up to the programme, which will see Tom and his crew look at other smaller clubs, but this time across Europe.

And after enjoying their time in Arbroath so much when they filmed here last year, they were keen to come back to the town to feature the Lichties in their new programme too.

Tom is due to arrive to start filming today (Friday) and will take in tomorrow’s (Saturday) home match against Forfar Athletic.

And Arbroath FC chairman John Christison can’t wait to welcome back Tom and his team.

He said: “We were delighted they wanted to come back. So many people saw the original programme and we’ve had so many good comments on it.

“We’ve been lucky to get this much exposure but it seems the last time they really enjoyed our hospitality and the history of the area.”
