The president of Arbroath Male Voice Choir has urged people to get tickets for their performance with Lesley Garrett.
As announced last month, Britain’s favourite soprano will be the guest of Arbroath Male Voice Choir at gala concerts in Arbroath’s Webster Memorial Theatre on March 20 and 21 next year to mark the choir’s 80th anniversary.
Miss Garrett CBE has 14 solo CDs to her credit from ‘Soprano in Red’ which received the Gramophone Award for Best-selling Classical Artist of the Year, to the recent ‘A North Country Lass’ released in April of last year.
Television appearances include ‘The Lesley Garrett Show’ and ‘The Singer’ as well as ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘Loose Women’. Musical theatre roles include Nettie in ‘Carousel’ and the Mother Abbess in ‘The Sound of Music’ in the West End and on national tour.
Choir president Kenny Southorn said: “This is a major coup for the choir and we can’t wait for these gala concerts to come round. It’s not every day that you get to sing with an international superstar so the choir is really looking forward to these dates. What a way to celebrate our 80th anniversary!”
With over 40 men on stage, this popular east of Scotland choir will bring audiences the power and passion of male voice singing with selections from the popular, classical and musical theatre repertoire under the direction of Sheena Guthrie.
Mr Southorn continued: “Lesley was a huge hit when she was last with us at a sold out Webster Memorial Theatre.
“I would advise getting your tickets quickly to avoid disappointment!”
Tickets for the gala concerts with Lesley Garrett go on sale to the public on Tuesday, October 1, from the Webster Memorial Theatre Box Office priced £20.
