CHEQUES were distributed in the Arbroath branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland last Monday to several local charities.

As well as the branch benevolent fund handing £3,250 to ex-services charities, other local charities also benefited from £200 donations.

These included Art Moves, who will put the cash towards a drama workshop in August and the East of Scotland Royal Marines Association, who will use the cash for wrought iron gates at a memorial garden at Barry.

Angus Special Playscheme and Arbroath Friends of Guiding received cheques as did the League of Friends at Arbroath Infirmary.

The branch’s Women’s Section also donated cash to many ex-services charities but also handed out £200 cheques to several local causes.

These were: Alzheimers Scotland, HOPE Trust Hospitalfield House, The Prince’s Trust Scotland, The Royal British Legion Arbroath Pipe Band and the Town Mission.
