Last minute preparations for Seafront Spectacular

WITH ONLY a week to go organisers are making the final preparations in time for the eighth annual Seafront Spectacular.

Appearing this year will be an abundance of bike riders.

They will include The Crazy Purple Helmets from the Isle of Man and Seafront Spectacular veterans Steve Colley and Kevin Carmichael.

Circus performers and an aeroplane balloon bursting act are also set to perform and local organisations the Knights of Monymusk and Kerr’s Miniature vehicles will also be there.

Angus Leisure are set to entertain and “involve” the public and persuade us all to get fit too.

And organisers are promising that along with the car clubs, dog clubs, quality traders and crafters, it is going to be an action-packed day for all the family.

The Royal Marines Association has teamed up with organisers Arbroath Events to run a tombola with the money raised going towards the Woodlands Garden Trust at Condor, home of 45 Royal Marine Commando Group.

The trust hopes to raise the money needed to construct a memorial garden for the injured and fallen of the unit within the ground.

Chefs at Condor are baking a cake for the event on July 23 with people asked to guess the weight. Local businesses and organisations have donated prizes and Councillor David Fairweather is calling on anybody who can donate more prizes to get in touch.

He said: “This is another fantastic opportunity for the generous people of Arbroath and Angus alike to show their big heartedness to many worthwhile causes.

“I am stunned at the willingness of the Station Bar for their contribution and members of the public for donating tombola prizes.

“What I ask is that other pubs, businesses or members of the public who may have any unwanted gifts contact myself on 0766073823 and I will pick it up, or drop it in to Howard Cargill at Carpet Disco, Millgate.”

As always the park and ride scheme from Inchcape Park will be making a return to this year’s Seafront Spectacular.

Visitors entering the town from the south will be able to park at Inchcape Park and be taken to the show ground at Victoria Park.

Arbroath Events are also appealing for any groups who may be able to help organisers clear up after the event.
