ANGUS Council is poised to begin a further major programme of kitchen replacements in its houses across the county.
Almost 1,000 new kitchens will be fitted in council homes across Angus at a total cost of around £3.85m, between February 2011 and March 2014.
The kitchen refits will be individually designed with each tenant to meet their specific needs, and will include rewiring, services, alterations, flooring and decorations.
The lowest tender for the kitchen replacement work, from CFM Building Services Ltd, Carluke was £2,452,804 and this was accepted by Neighbourhood Services executive sub-committee on Monday. The inclusion of additional properties to the contract at the tendered rates, along with other items such as professional fees, takes the total cost to £3.85m.
Convener of housing, Councillor Jim Millar, said: “This new programme of kitchen fitment will build upon our previous programme to upgrade and improve our housing stock for the benefit of our tenants.”
