The Town Mission Holiday Convention, convened at the Mission Centre, closed last weekend following nine days of Bible Ministry and a varied musical programme,
It was greatly enjoyed by the many holidaymakers from the west coast of Scotland as well as members of the Mission fellowship and friends from other churches in the area.
Pastor David Webster was chairman and Dr Charles Sommerville was speaker at the evening meetings, while Eric Scott led the morning bible readings.
Both Dr Sommerville and Mr Scott were very capable in their exposition of the Scriptures and were challenging and uplifting, Dr Sommerville choosing the Book of Revelation, considering the Apostle John’s letters to the seven churches, while Mr Scott chose Paul’s letter to the Phillipian for his morning ministry.
‘Ministry in Song’, a very popular male duo, provided the music and song for the first three evenings and also Sunday morning and delighted the gatherings with their bright presentation of the gospel.
There were other musical items including the Mission choir. with Isabell Woods and Jack Picken the pianists.
It was most encouraging to see the excellent attendance each night and time was taken after each meeting to enjoy refreshments, with the opportunity to browse through the books etc. provided by Matt and Mary Knox, and George and Joan Owens’ ‘Scotland for Jesus’ stand.
