A Christmas fayre will take place at the end of the month which will highlight military wives in business and feature local businesses and artists.
The Condor Christmas Fayre is being held on Saturday, November 30, at the Families’ Centre, Falkland Drive, Arbroath, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Organiser Louise McQuaid said that the intention is to promote military wives who have set up a business and become self employed to fit around the lifestyle, but also improve local links with other small businesses.
She went on: “I also want to encourage people to buy locally from those who own a small business, and raise awareness of the military wives’ network and forces charities.
“The table fee is being donated to the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF) and the event will also feature a raffle and tombola on the day.”
Louise explained: “ I recently started a business and am so impressed by the resourcefulness of military wives that I wanted to create an event to showcase their work.
“Profitable businesses are created out of necessity to be flexible around our husbands’ work commitments and include everything from beauticians and childminders to dressmakers, crafters and cake decorators.
“Wives from across the country are involved promoting their work in Scotland. I want to tie these links in locally before aspiring to organise a national showcase.”
Louise hopes she can generate interest in promoting the work that the wives do, including the ladies who are dedicated to fund-raising. Details of the event can be found on facebook or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
