A one-week festival celebrating the unique heritage of Angus is to be held across the county from September 13 to 20.

The second Angus Heritage Week will be packed full of activities and events highlighting the people, places, natural environment, culture and traditions of Angus.

The celebrations kick off with the Tayroots Family History Day on September 13, which will enable people to find out more about their ancestors. “This year’s festival builds upon the undoubted success of last year’s Angus Heritage Week,” said Councillor Alex King, Depute Provost of Angus. “As well as the Tayroots Family History Day, Angus Heritage Week features an excellent selection of guided walks and tours, talks, workshops, exhibitions, plays and film shows.”

Angus Heritage Week also includes the Doors Open Days event over the weekend of September 14/15, when members of the public will be able to see what goes on behind the normally-closed doors of a selection of fascinating buildings.

“There will be no shortage of things to do or places to go during Angus Heritage Week,” continued Councillor King, who launched the Angus Heritage Week Event Programme at the Caledonian Railway in Brechin yesterday (Thursday).

“This week of special events will provide lots of opportunities for us all to discover the rich and fascinating stories of the county of Angus.”
